General Director of the international MTV Chinese area, Li Yifei is considered be one of the most visible Chinese entrepreneurs in the world and one of the most influential female figures in China. Co-Investor in China Team, last year she organized a spectacular television show, which presented the team to more than 300 million television viewers in China. How do you find the America’s Cup?

It is fantastic! I am very excited, enthusiastic, and I find it magnificent. It is one thing to see the competition on television and another to see it live. I came here with my family, with my children, to discover the country, the team, the Cup. We are very proud and happy. Yes, very happy, and excited…I love the wind, the sun, the boats, all the people, the sailors, this formidable energy that there is here.

In China, is the competition followed?

Yes, very much so! There are retransmissions every day on CCTV5, in the news but also in a special program lasting 10 minutes every morning. The day that China Team won against the Americans, all of China knew about it, it was fantastic. The Cup is covered very well in written press and on the web. Sina.com, for example, one of the most used portals, like Google for you, has created a special section for the Cup. Actually, there isn’t a day that goes by where you can find an article on the Cup, in the daily press, people’s press, in style magazines like “Pictorial on the Bund” from Shaghai which has put out a special edition. In the Peking airport, there is a lot of publicity; posters, in the airline press…

Longtze is going to return to China in October, are you going to do another concert, like what you did last year on MTV?

Yes, I think we are going to work on it. That is going to be a big event, which will be covered by CCTV5, and by Qingdao television. And the concert we organized to present the team was so popular the last time, I really want to repeat it again!
