No big turnovers in the classification since the beginning of the Louis Vuitton.
The wind has come back, the matches are coming together, and we don’t see a lot of changes in the classification with respect to the first day of racing.
On the other hand, the separation between the teams is closing slowly and many teams in the middle of the table are starting to play their hands.
For the most part, they have their sights on a place in the semi finals and know only too well there isn't enough room for everyone...!
This is perfectly normal for the moment, because the better teams have met weaker teams and the results have been logical with few exceptions.
This is why, at the end of the matches to come, there won’t be anymore decisive races.
Surely, the Swedish have the most work in front of them.
The Spanish and Mascalzone are next, because they must meet the “undefeated Americans” and Luna Rossa.
Shosholoza and Areva have each met a "big team" and must finish with a whirlwind if they have any hopes of getting to the final square on the playing board.
Actually, we can measure perfectly two things, which will be in play like referees for those who are aspiring to arrive in the semi-finals:
- the bonus point obtained after the acts
- the defeats against the “small” teams and against those who will be absent from the semi-finals.
There remains for the most part, those who cannot afford an error and for some, those who need to recuperate the spread in bonus points in beating their closest competitor, and at least once, one of the two/three leaders.
The formula chosen on one hand is a little merciless which is in part the interest of the America’s Cup: “Your Majesty, there is no second…!
Me, I would love to go on, but you must really see the quality of the teams here together on waters of Valencia and greet the future soon to be defeated!
One must pay attention for example to the South Africans for their consistency in that they have been posting good results: looking at the statistics, they are equal with Luna Rossa in the number of times they have been leading at the first mark, only BMW-Oracle, Team New Zealand and Mascalzone have done any better!
