Luc's Blog : Bang !
The sound of breaking carbon.
Longtze is wounded but not sunk!
I am kidding, but with this blow, the heart feels it!
Of course, victories on the water are not ours yet, but all the members of China Team are making considerable efforts to compete with the best of the sailing world. We built the boat under difficult conditions and with considerable important constraints on technical and financial levels, but we imagined we would have these types of problems after only a little more than a month and a half of sailing.
In fact, the keel attachment system, at the keel level, has “delaminated” a little and today the damage spread very quickly.
After coming back to shore, we took out the mast, took of the keel, and brought the hull into the shed and started organizing to repair the section as soon as possible...
Sailing is a mechanical sport with its chances, but the quality of work by everyone did not deserve that...It is a shame; we had two interesting races in front of us with the honor to race against the famous New Zealanders and our friends the French.
Both lost their other matches and they consoled themselves by a victory against us… but without us!
We even took the time to keep an eye on the matches today: that too broke something a little: not necessarily material but the spirit.
Now, behind the big three, there are three other teams in the running to be the fourth. Tomorrow night will be terrible to be certain!
For once we can follow the races on the television and that will be exciting!!
