The LONGTZE Premier series soon
Longtze Premier finished its circle November 18th following its tour of Hong-Kong. Finishing 3rd in real time within the fleet, it was a race which closed up a week of sailing in Hong-Kong. After the tests, competitions, and finalizations, this last stage validates the modifications in view of LONGTZE Premier’s last outing.
Longtze Premier made the tour around the island in 5 hours, 3 minutes, third in real time behind the Shaw 7, “Custard Truck”, skippered by Richard Kiff (T4207, 4h 33’) and the combo team of A Taylor/J. Isler’ with their Hick 31 “Ambush” (HKG2080, 4h 55). They left in their wake, in real, and compensated time, the Shaw 650 (by a few seconds), the fleet of Magic 25s (the first 7 minutes behind, a Mumm 30 (8 minutes behind) and a Beneteau (25 minutes behind). Far enough behind the SB3 in real time (between 15 and 45 minutes) some were passed in compensated time and even a J80 (15 minutes behind in real time) It was a great day for a team which following the weaknesses of its rudders, opted last week for rudders completely in carbon.
"On Sunday, we had an excellent race around the Hong-Kong island, in wildly varied wind conditions" explained Pierre Mas. "We started in a « medium” wind, along the city highways, then we had 25 knots on the stearn after leaving the port, with a lot of chop and big waves. We tested the rudders offshore under spinnaker. Our boats truly sailed well, literally surfing on the water. On the coastline outside of Hong Kong, we fell into a wind hole, in the middle of other boats who were just starting. We sailed really well, leaving the Magic 25s and the majority of sportboats behind us".
After the tests, competitions, finalizations, and modifications, the team is concentrating during the upcoming weeks on the construction of prototype #4 in Qingdao. Benefiting from different options chosen and validated via the three preceding prototypes, it is the synthesis of some fifty evolutionary points ranging from the size of the spinnaker halyard size to the form of the keel, ending in rudders constructed completely in carbon. After Prototype #4, which will be tested in December, it will be time for the production series. First delivery envisioned … for the New Year!
