Magical Longtze It was a magical moment for the whole team Tuesday evening. First because the base, open and illuminated was magnificent. Next because everyone was there. They came from China, France, Europe, the United States, to christen the Chinese America’s Cup yacht. Longtze, the son of the dragon, majestically resting on its stand, oversaw the activities from above. At eight oclock, Xavier de Lesquen welcomed the guests in Spanish, followed by Rita Barbera, the mayor of Valencia, the Ambassador of China in Madrid, Rosa Lladro, Wang Chaowang, Jean-Christophe Babin, director of Tag Heuer and Jim Long representing Chivas. The team then filed out along the boat under beams of red and gold light before Xin Li, in the spotlight, christened Longtze amidst applause. The Chinese community of Valencia was well represented last night, electrifying the atmosphere with their enthusiasm and emotion, they then took up in choir with the team, at the end of the christening, a Chinese sailor song.
